MEXICO CITY, Nov. 26, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Global retail giant H&M is set to open its newest location at 5th Avenue and 12th Street in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico, developer Thor Urbana announced today. Located along Playa's premier shopping corridor, the location attracts hundreds of thousands of pedestrians every day, and presents an ideal spot for the retail superstar to expand its international footprint.
"Playa Del Carmen is one of Mexico's hottest neighborhoods attracting visitors from around the globe in search of culinary delights, sunny beaches and world-class shopping and entertainment," said Jimmy Arakanji and Jaime Fasja, CO-CEOs of Thor Urbana. "H&M will fit in seamlessly with its retail neighbors and will provide an exploding number of tourists easy access to the latest fashion trends."
Playa Del Carmen features a vibrant ocean-front culture. The town's famous 5ta Avenida, one of the most transited pedestrian streets in all of Mexico, is known for its celebrated restaurants, unique street vendors, creative art galleries, lively bars and world-class hotels. High-end boutiques and designer stores also line the beautiful boulevard.
"We increasingly see more top brands seeking out presence in new markets across the globe," said Thor Equities CEO and Thor Urbana Chairman Joseph J. Sitt. "H&M's international designs and contemporary culture are an ideal match for the dynamic property situated in the heart of Playa Del Carmen's shopping district."
This state-of-the-art mixed-use project, encompassing an entire block along 5th Avenue between 12th and 14th streets and enjoying more than 340 ft. of frontage, will accommodate a mix of several global fashion brands, leading international restaurants and a Thompson Hotel, the first branded lifestyle boutique hotel in the Mayan Riviera.
