Three Cleveland Bakeries, One Online Auction: Colossal Cupcakes Liquidates Nearly 300 Lots

CLEVELAND, Aug. 24, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- After nearly 15 years, Colossal Cupcakes has served its last customer, and the contents of all three of its locations are going to the highest bidder.

Auction Factory National LLC has been retained by Colossal Sweets LLC, founded by Kelly Kandah, to liquidate the complete contents of all three Colossal Cupcakes locations in an online-only auction closing Sunday, August 30, 2026, beginning at 8:00 p.m. ET. Nearly 300 lots are cataloged, photographed and live for bidding right now at auctionfactory.com.

Three fully equipped commercial kitchens have been consolidated under one roof at Auction Factory's Cleveland warehouse — enough production capacity to open a bakery, an ice cream shop and a café out of a single sale.

The Headliners

• Four soft serve machines, led by a Taylor 339-27 2-flavor plus twist at $22,000 retail, joined by a Taylor Crown C713-33 water-cooled three-phase, an Electro Freeze CS10-237 countertop at $8,500 retail, and a Sumstar S850AC 3-flavor floor model at $5,500 retail. Four in one auction is rare.
• Bakers Pride Cyclone GDCO11E Double-Stack Electric Convection Oven — $12,500 retail — plus a Southbend SLES/20SC double-stack gas convection oven.
• Traulsen Two-Section Four Half-Door Reach-In Refrigerator, stainless — $9,500 retail.
• Four Hobart mixers — a D-300 30-quart floor model at $8,500 retail and three A-200 20-quart planetary mixers at $4,500 retail each. Hobarts famously outlive the businesses that buy them.
• Refrigeration throughout — an Atosa MBF8006GR three-door at $7,735 retail, additional Atosa two-door reach-ins and an undercounter, a Padela PDT-3R-HC three-door, a Maxx Cold glass-door merchandiser freezer at $4,200 retail, a True T-19FZ-HC reach-in freezer at $3,800 retail, and a Scotsman undercounter ice machine.
• Bakery display cases — two Federal Industries ECGR50 50" curved-glass units, a Tor Rey TEM150+ curved-glass deli case, and 60" curved-glass refrigerated and dry cases at $4,500 retail each.
• Three Square Register POS systems with cash drawers — a turnkey front counter, ready to run.

The twelve largest equipment lots alone represent more than $95,000 at retail.

Not Your Usual Liquidation

Colossal Cupcakes never furnished its dining rooms out of a supply catalog, and the front of the house is selling too — a rare shot at pieces with real character:

• Baroque oversized throne chairs in pink gloss (Lots 206–207), a blue velvet throne loveseat (Lot 194) and a mint green Victorian wingback (Lot 201).
• Four ice cream cone shaped chairs (Lots 202–205) and a pair of hot pink ball chairs (Lots 199–200).
• Hot pink velvet tufted Chesterfield sofa on acrylic legs (Lot 186).
• Oversized display props — a giant frosted cupcake (Lot 196), a giant pink candy sculpture (Lot 195), a giant macaron (Lot 198) and a pink floor-standing spiral gumball machine (Lot 190).
• A complete dining room — six teal POLaRT baroque chairs, four pink velvet accent chairs, black velvet armchairs, gold stainless round-backs, Belle Époque polycarbonate chairs, and five marble-top tables on gold frames (Lots 208–227).
• Display and accent pieces — brass pedestal tables, white terrazzo pedestals and clear acrylic Lucite display tables (Lots 183–193).

For a café, boutique, ice cream shop, event venue or photo studio, these are the lots that furnish a room nobody else can copy.

Everything Else — and There Is a Lot of It

Stainless and prep — Eagle Group and NSF worktables from 24"x24" up to 96"x24" on casters, with undershelves, backsplashes and two-tier Metro wire over shelves; Arduous stainless wall shelves; Advance Tabco and aluminum sheet pan racks in 10-, 16- and 20-pan capacities; dunnage racks; even a commercial kitchen swing door with a vision panel.

Beverage and front-of-house — a Bunn VPR commercial coffee brewer, Waring WDM360 double- and triple-spindle drink mixers, a Waring Tostato Perfetto toasting grill, a new Haceb chocolatera hot chocolate maker and frother, Duxtop induction cooktops, and four commercial microwaves from Amana, Solwave, Waring and Farberware.

Smallwares by the pallet — Cambro and Rubbermaid food storage by the lot, ProSave ingredient bins on casters, market and dietary trays, polycarbonate food pans, KitchenAid Professional 600 stand mixers and spare bowls, blenders, food processors, kettles, a bubble-waffle iron, cake decorating turntables, and hundreds of pans, tools and containers.

Shop and support — Milwaukee hand truck, Stanley and Bissell wet/dry shop vacuums, movers' dollies, step ladders, rolling utility carts, storage cabinets and printers.

Everything sells as-is, where-is, with condition ratings and photographs on every lot. A $22,000 soft serve machine and a $35 electric kettle open on exactly the same footing.

Who should be bidding: bakers and pastry shops, café and restaurant owners, ice cream and dessert concepts, ghost kitchens and commissaries, food trucks and caterers, churches and schools, boutique and retail build-outs, event venues, interior designers and prop houses, dealers and resellers — and any Clevelander who wants a piece of a place they loved.

The End of a Cleveland Original

Colossal Cupcakes was founded by Kelly Kandah and grew from a single Euclid Avenue storefront into a downtown Cleveland institution, eventually operating three locations: the original flagship downtown, a second downtown café at East Ninth Street and St. Clair Avenue, and a suburban shop in North Olmsted. When the downtown store was destroyed in 2020 — an incident that drew national attention after employees sheltered inside — Kandah rebuilt, reopened, and expanded.

In July 2026, she announced she was closing for good. The last shop served its final customer on Sunday, July 26, 2026, after what the company called "almost 15 sweet years."

"This equipment was bought right, used right and maintained right, and it is going to open somebody else's kitchen for a fraction of what it should cost," said Chase Slepak, co-owner and licensed auctioneer at Auction Factory National LLC. "Four soft serve machines, four Hobarts, and two double-stack convection ovens in one sale is a serious auction on its own. The furniture is the bonus — Kelly built rooms people wanted to be photographed in, and that character is going to end up somewhere new instead of in a dumpster. That is the ending this place deserves."
