Lyst has launched a new interactive tool to help you find your perfect piece
NEW YORK, June 6, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- New data from global fashion search engine Lyst predicts June 7th will be the most popular day of the year to buy a swimsuit online. Sales have peaked this week for the last two years. A steady increase in search demand, plus monitoring patterns in uploads and discounting, makes us confident that tomorrow's going to be the day you'll buy a bikini.
Luckily, there's never been more swimwear options to choose from – with 154,000 pieces available on Lyst, from 1074 designers. A 12% increase from last year.
And we've already seen some major swim trends emerge this Summer:
- Searches for 'red swimsuit' have increased by 97% over the last six months
- Someone has searched for a high leg one piece every 5 minutes on Lyst this year
- Marysia Swim is the most wanted swimwear brand with searches up 130% year on year
Lyst's research suggests it's not always easy to find that perfect swimsuit. Last summer customers spent three times longer browsing swimwear than other product categories. An average shopper will interact with 5 bikinis in one session, and will return to click on a swimsuit 4 times before purchasing. And even after all that work, swimwear is one of the most returned items of clothing online, 45% of swimsuits bought this summer have been returned already.

The model also factors in the most popular swimwear trends in your country; right now high cut one-pieces are the most searched for style in the US, while ruffle bikinis are the most wanted in the UK. The pursuit of the perfect bathing suit is a year round challenge, so the SwimSeeker will stay on Lyst, updated live with new products across Lyst's 11,000 retail partners worldwide.
