Top Strategist Launches American Opposition to Counter the Rise of Fascism in the United States

BOULDER, Colo., Feb. 4, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Amid growing concerns over the future of democracy in the United States, Carlos Álvarez-Aranyos has launched American Opposition, a new organization dedicated to mobilizing Americans against the rising grip of fascism. Álvarez-Aranyos – a political veteran who oversaw strategic communications efforts for the most covered political non-profits in both 2020 (Protect Democracy) and 2024 (The American Sunlight Project) – aims to deploy high-impact messaging strategies to inform and empower the public.

"The United States is now under the grip of fascism, and if we don't rise up to defend her, we may very well lose her," said Álvarez-Aranyos. "American Opposition is designed to provide concerned citizens with the knowledge and tools they need to take meaningful action in defense of democracy."

The organization will focus on mobilization efforts, offering Americans localized action plans through a dedicated app. "Many Americans are asking what they can do to effectively resist, and we plan to provide them daily guidance based on their location," said Álvarez-Aranyos.

The organization's first project is a call for a National Day of Protest at noon on Wednesday, February 5, 2025. They're asking all Americans to "show up at your state capitol, city hall, or town hall and peacefully stand up for American democracy." As part of the National Day of Protest, the organization is asking supporters to restrict their online activities to covering the protests.

Additionally, American Opposition is planning a nationwide digital billboard campaign that will compare Trump's performance indicators to where they were when he first took office, aiming to cut through media noise and make the adverse impacts of his presidency clear to all Americans.
