Top U.S. Family Vacation Destinations Announced By FamilyFun Magazine in 3rd Annual Travel Awards

NEW YORK, March 19, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- FamilyFun magazine announced its third annual Travel Awards today in the magazine's April issue. The winning locations represent the best family-friendly vacation spots in the U.S. as chosen by 2,000 families from across the country. Award categories include animal attractions, state parks, science museums, and more, providing families with recommendations covering a wide variety of locations and interests. The magazine's April issue features the full list of winners along with the Top 10 overall winners that received the highest scores across all categories.

Animal attractions, science museums, and tourist towns resonated with families this year. Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium was named the top family-friendly animal attraction for the second year in row, while DC's Smithsonian's National Museum of Natural History took the top spot in the science museums category. The south ruled the tourist town category, with Sanibel, Florida; Gatlinburg, Tennessee; and Savannah, Georgia taking the top three spots. New to the Travel Awards this year is the Casual Restaurants category, in which families voted on family-friendly restaurants with dinner service and a kid-friendly menu selection. FamilyFun Travel Awards Survey Methodology
FamilyFun surveyed families traveling with kids ages 3 to 12. Two thousand respondents in four regions – West, Midwest, South, and Northeast – were asked to rate more than 460 vacation spots in the five categories. With the exception of casual restaurant chains, respondents rated only nominees within their own region.
