WALTHAM, Mass., June 13, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Mobile Heartbeat™, a leading provider of healthcare enterprise solutions that improve clinical workflow and team communication, today announced that Torrance Memorial Medical Center in Torrance, California, has selected the MH-CURE™ (Clinical Urgent REsponse) secure smartphone application as its clinical communications platform. The platform provides Torrance Memorial a unified communications system delivering improved secure text and voice communication and integration with its Cerner electronic medical records (EMR) system, and West-Com nurse call system.
"We selected MH-CURE because we were looking for advanced functionality, such as integrated voice and text, the ability to upload patient photos and data to EMRs, and the opportunity to consolidate other technologies such as paging to create an enterprise-level communications platform," said Bernadette Reid, CIO at Torrance Memorial Medical Center. "We also required a highly reliable communications system with which we no longer experienced the dropped calls that were common with our previous system. With MH-CURE, we can communicate seamlessly from building to building, while experiencing tremendous ease of use, such as fast and easy logins."
Torrance Memorial is rolling out MH-CURE to over 2700 clinical staff members across all departments, particularly its rapid response teams. The hospital is replacing all old phones and most pagers with more than 1000 shared MH-CURE-enabled smartphones.
MH-CURE's real-time clinical team directory connects all members of a patient's care team enabling patient-specific workflows and enhanced caregiver collaboration. The Dynamic Care Team directory enables clinicians to quickly identify and contact team members directly, instead of having to search for an extension which is time consuming and inefficient.
"The clinical team directory is highly functional, providing the ability to easily locate specific team members and save contacts and phone numbers," said Reid. "You can assign clinical staff members to the role they serve on a patient's care team and easily contact the person in a particular role without having to first find out who they are and search for them. You can just look up the patient, find the care team and then call them immediately. Our clinicians love the directory because it helps expedite their calls and has streamlined communications significantly."
"We are pleased to partner with Torrance Medical and look forward to helping them improve workflow and communication among care teams across all departments in the hospital," said Ron Remy, CEO of Mobile Heartbeat. "With Mobile Heartbeat's MH-CURE mobile platform, clinicians at Torrance Medical will now have accelerated access to care team members and patient information, expediting communications, resulting in improved patient care."
