BELLEVUE, Wash., Aug. 16, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Transforming Age announced Michael Connell as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO). He brings more than 17 years of leadership experience in not-for-profit senior living and will serve on the organization's executive team to help drive the financial strategy behind the mission to expand the impact of changing the perception of age by helping more older adults live independent, purposeful lives. In addition to overseeing finance and accounting, Connell will also lead IT strategy and operations at Transforming Age.
"Michael is a great addition to the team," said Torsten Hirche, CEO of Transforming Age. "His extensive experience in not-for-profit senior living combined with his clear passion for our mission and his creative ability to address complex challenges with diverse skills and insight will be an invaluable resource as we continue to grow the impact of our efforts to improve the lives of older adults."
Prior to joining the Transforming Age executive team, Connell served as the CFO at Asbury Communities in Germantown, Maryland where he led the development and execution of long term financial strategies for nearly a decade with an annual budget over $250M. His not-for-profit senior living experience also includes several years as the CFO at Ingleside Presbyterian Retirement Community in Washington, D.C. and Lourdes Residence in West Palm Beach, FL. He also brings previous experience in both for-profit senior living and as a health care auditor at Ernst & Young.
"I'm thrilled to join the dynamic team at Transforming Age," Connell said. "The passion, commitment to mission, and vision to combat ageism and grow the ability for more older adults to live independently, is an exciting opportunity that I am eager to take on."
Connell succeeds Jerry Schoeggl, who has served as CFO at Transforming Age for just over a year in a part time capacity. Jerry will continue to play a significant role in shaping strategic financial initiatives for the organization as Assistant Treasurer.
"Jerry is an integral part of the Transforming Age team," added Hirche. "He will continue to be involved in the financial management of our growing not-for-profit organization as we welcome Michael on board."
Connell looks forward to moving to the flourishing and beautiful Seattle area with his wife, Nicole, their three children, and the family dog. In his spare time, he enjoys coaching his kids in basketball and playing golf.
