Transmosis and CompTIA Announced as Award Recipients of EARN Maryland Grant from Secretary of Labor's Office
Maryland Cyber Skills Alliance to bring advanced cybersecurity talent development model to region
BALTIMORE, Feb. 6, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Transmosis, a nationally recognized leader in cybersecurity workforce development, today announced it has been named a recipient of EARN Maryland funding from the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation.
EARN Maryland is a highly successful competitive workforce development grant program that helps businesses cultivate the skilled workforce they need to compete while preparing Marylanders for meaningful careers.
Through EARN Maryland, the Maryland Cyber Skills Alliance ("MCSA") will provide qualified Maryland residents with full scholarships that fast track them into high paying cybersecurity careers. The intensive cybersecurity training and certification program will launch March 4 with 20 applicants being offered full scholarships, each worth approximately $10,000.
The Maryland Cyber Skills Alliance is seeking to address Maryland's shortage of skilled cyber security workers by providing training that leads to industry recognized certifications and maps directly to IT job roles.
Led by the Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA), the global leader in vendor neutral skills certifications for technology professionals, and Transmosis, Inc., a nationally recognized workforce development intermediary, the MCSA will provide essential training for both incumbent workers and hard-to-reach unemployed and underemployed populations in Maryland.
CompTIA's vendor-neutral certifications in cybersecurity and other skills are employer-driven, reflecting the qualifications and skills in demand in today's workplace. Job role qualifications are the cornerstone of every CompTIA certification. The CompTIA best-in-class instructors will assess and accommodate diverse learners and customize training modalities as needed. This high-quality, accelerated IT learning curriculum and training path has proven outcomes. Upon completing the two-month training and certification program, Transmosis will offer graduates employer placement support or opportunities.
Employer demand for cybersecurity professionals across Maryland is accelerating, according to data from CyberSeek™, the leading source of actionable data on supply and demand in the nation's cybersecurity job market. Maryland employers in the private and public sectors posted an estimated 15,128 job openings for cybersecurity workers between September 2017 and August 2018. That's up from the estimated 14,353 cyber job postings for the comparable period one year ago.
