Trend Micro Mobile Security Tops Threat Detection Ranks

CUPERTINO, Calif., Sept. 25, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Trend Micro, a worldwide leader in cloud and server security, is proud to be recognized as a global leader in mobile security. Trend Micro was awarded highest honors in recent real world testing by two independent security testing organizations.

In the most recent test results, PC Security Labs, based in Jiaxing, China, tested fifteen of the most popular Android security solutions. Trend Micro received the highest 5-star rating for high detection rates and minimal false positive scores. The results confirm those released last month by AV-Comparatives in a similar test where again Trend Micro was ranked in the top group with a detection rate of 98-100%.

"This really is a testament to the advanced threat research of our TrendLabs systems and engineers," said Carol Carpenter, executive vice president and general manager of Trend Micro's consumer division. "Our advanced Mobile App Reputation technology is constantly collecting and analyzing new apps. We found double the number of malicious apps that we were expecting by the end of June, and indications for the third quarter are that this number will continue to grow exponentially."

The test results come hot on the heels of the latest version of Trend Micro's flagship mobile app, Trend Micro™ Mobile Security Personal Edition. It now includes the ability to analyze apps for private data theft. "Mobile devices contain some of our most personal information, it is critical that users are aware of the information that the apps they are downloading not only have access to but the information they are collecting," added Carol.
