Trend Micro Secures Four Campuses and 3,300 Students for Morgan County School System
CUPERTINO, Calif., Aug. 16, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Trend Micro Incorporated (TYO: 4704;TSE: 4704), a global cloud security leader, today announced that Georgia's Morgan County School system, near Atlanta, has implemented a virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) secured by Trend Micro™ Enterprise Security for Endpoints.
Morgan County Schools consists of four campuses, serving 3,300 students with 2,000 PCs and laptops. When looking for options to update its current IT system, one of the school system's key needs was to provide a cost-effective and secure way for students and staff to access their personal desktops from any computer. This would increase the level of service to users without the need to increase IT staff.
After evaluating its options, Morgan County Schools chose the VMware View™ platform for VDI. And because the Morgan County School system was already using Trend Micro Enterprise Security for Endpoints, the transition was easy, since the solution automatically adjusts security to extend protection to virtual desktops.
"The introduction of our VMware VDI platform has gone very smoothly," said Jay Cawley, director of technology for Morgan County Schools. "Trend Micro is the first to market with a VDI-aware endpoint security product, which made it an easy choice for us. They had exactly what we needed, when we needed it."
Trend Micro Enterprise Security products and services are powered by the Trend Micro™ Smart Protection Network™ infrastructure that delivers advanced protection from the cloud. Threats are blocked in real-time, before they reach the campus network or students.
For Morgan County Schools, the VDI environment is saving the organization both time and money, makes it possible for application upgrades or changes to take effect almost instantaneously and provides a solution that has twice the lifespan of traditional desktop PCs.
