Marine Helps Fellow Marine Overcome Homelessness
$4,285 raised by 73 people in 16 days
Lewis was a Marine who served during the Vietnam War and later fell on hard times. While homeless and camping in the backyard of his childhood house, Lewis was discovered by some fellow Marines who wanted to help. Now, led by campaign organizer and fellow Marine John Day, the community is coming together to help Lewis rehab the home he's been living outside of.
John Day writes, "Lewis is in temporary housing and doing well. The property is no longer owned by the city and we are putting together the resources and people needed to come in and start the work. As you can see on the site, we raised almost $3000 in the first week. Thank you, thank you to all of you who gave!"
