Trilliant and DCC Implementing Smart Meter System Operator Solution to Make Connections Simple
WINDSOR, United Kingdom, Jan. 23, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Trilliant Networks, a key technology provider of the most widely used AMI solutions in the United Kingdom, and Smart Data Communications Company (DCC), today continue to actively implement Trilliant's communications data hub into the UK smart meter rollout program. Smart DCC maintains the secure national infrastructure that underpins the roll-out of energy smart meters across Great Britain. This wireless network connects smart meters to energy suppliers, network operators and other authorized service users. It is maintained to very high security standards, as endorsed by the National Cyber Security Centre.
The DCC is responsible for establishing and managing the common infrastructure necessary to support the rollout of millions of smart electricity and gas meters. It forms part of the UK government's wider Smart Metering Implementation Program (SMIP) and is recognized as the company that built and has maintained Great Britain's data and communications infrastructure to support the mass rollout of smart electricity and gas meters to homes and small businesses.

Trilliant's software solution for Smart DCC is designed to support up to 7 million smart electricity and gas meters, in addition to communications hubs and consumer In-Home Display devices.
Trilliant is one of the principal suppliers of communications hubs and software working with the DCC, as it provides the network that connects smart meters to energy suppliers, network operators and other authorized service users. This network is mandated to operate reliably for all consumers and provide smart metering data to network operators in support of the digitization of the energy industry and the development of a smart grid.
Implementation of the Trilliant solution will enable interoperability for the installed base of smart meters, as consumers switch between energy suppliers, improve security and save industry many millions of pounds per annum, while delivering a convenient and secure solution that provides functionality and services in line with the SMETS2 standard.
This coming on the heels of Trilliant's expanded participation in the Wi-SUN Alliance to further advance worldwide interoperability.
