Trover's mobile app, interactive gallery parties and walking tours offer a local's view of Austin's top spots

Feb 21, 2012, 09:00 ET from Trover

SEATTLE, Feb. 21, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Trover, Inc., today announced that its free mobile app Trover will serve as an authoritative visual guide for remarkable things to see, do, eat, and experience at South by Southwest (SXSW) in Austin, Texas, March 9-18, 2012. Trover is the perfect app to discover fun things to do and see at SXSW in an instant. The interface shows off Austin's hidden gems and local charm in an interactive photo mosaic while providing users directions on how to get there. Attendees can connect with their friends and share tips on their favorite spots with ease. Trover is also hosting multiple free arts and entertainment events for locals and conference-goers (details below).

Over the past six months leading up to SXSW, Trover has caught on with Austin city explorers. Through events such as the Discover East Austin Mobile Photo Walk, and multiple meet-ups, locals have been photographing and describing their favorite finds and sharing them on Trover, resulting in a must-have app and resource for SXSW, Austin, and beyond. To see what they've discovered, see Trover's Austin discoveries.

"Trover's mission is to engage people around the unique places, personalities, and stories that define a city," said Jason Karas, CEO of Trover.  "Our SXSW walking tours, interactive gallery parties, and the Trover discovery app are powered by artists, foodies, and storytellers who love Austin. We're thrilled to document and showcase some of Austin's hidden gems during SXSW, and to start local conversations that will echo beyond the festival."

SXSW Interactive has nominated Trover for a "Community Award" in recognition for new services that have attracted an extraordinarily active following of users who assist with content development.
