Program to offer voter registration and voter ID assistance
HOUSTON, Oct. 2, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- True the Vote (TTV), the nation's leading voters' rights and election integrity organization, today announced its latest voter education and election preparedness program, 'NEED ID?'
True the Vote's new initiative will work in concert with Texas' recently announced mobile voter ID program and offer stand-alone support for residents wishing to register to vote or inquire about identification requirements.
"True the Vote wants to make certain that all voters are prepared to participate in an accountable election experience," True the Vote President Catherine Engelbrecht said. "Our 'NEED ID?' website was designed to answer any questions a voter may have and offer resources for full compliance with Texas' election integrity reforms. We stand ready to assist election officials and diverse communities across the state in every election to come."
'NEED ID?' offers comprehensive guidance for voters wishing to cast a ballot in the next election:
- Simple guidelines on acceptable forms of identification and exceptions to the law
- Helpful links to obtaining copies of personal documents (i.e. birth certificates, citizenship records)
- Updates on Texas' mobile voter ID service
- Voter registration resources
- Volunteer opportunities
In addition, True the Vote will begin its own mobile outreach program with deputy voter registrars and ID consultants in rural and emergent communities beginning October 2, 2013.
