ACTON, Mass., Feb. 27, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Affirmed Networks, the leader in virtualized mobile networks, today announced that it has been selected to provide a virtualized Evolved Packet Core (vEPC) to Truphone, a leading global mobile network operator.
Truphone delivers a wide range of advanced telecommunications services to some of the world's largest financial institutions, IoT customers and OEM's. Truphone provides services to some of the largest global brands and is a recognized leader in the area of mobile call recording services. Recent innovations from Truphone have included the introduction of an eSIM data offering for iPad users and an IoT connected car solution for Kia Motors.
As Truphone's roadmap covers geographical expansion and support for additional technologies such as Voice-over-WiFi (VoWiFi) and 5G, they found that Affirmed Networks' virtualized mobile packet core would enable them to evolve their existing capabilities while allowing them to quickly and securely scale on a single platform. To further enhance their service assurance capabilities, Truphone will also deploy the Affirmed vProbe solution, enriching their real-time network intelligence across the virtualized infrastructure.
Truphone achieves significant capex and opex savings with the Affirmed Networks' Content Cloud solution. This Cloud Native architecture integrates several core network services such as packet inspection, service orchestration and value added services onto a single, virtualized platform, significantly reducing the complexity and cost of the network.
"Our customers place their trust in us because they know we are focused on providing a truly business-class service offering," said Igor Borisoglebski, Truphone's CTO. "We need a network that is capable of supporting our rapidly growing business, our ambition for innovation and our commitment to provide reliable connectivity services to our customers around the world. Affirmed Networks' solutions and expertise will enable us to capitalize on the benefits of a virtualized network and provide the reliable connectivity needed for success in today's and tomorrow's global economy."
The deployment of an NFV based Evolved Packet Core (vEPC) will also enable Truphone to quickly develop new service offerings, opening lucrative new revenue streams that can be deployed over today's 4G network, and over 5G in the future.
"NFV-based architectures deliver significant capital and operational savings over legacy networks," said Mohammed Shanableh, Affirmed Networks' vice president of global operations. "By moving to a virtualized network with integrated Wi-Fi access, Truphone is able to experience even greater operational savings while gaining the ability to develop and deliver compelling new services more efficiently than ever before."
In November 2016, Affirmed Networks' virtualized Wi-Fi solution was honored by the Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA), receiving the top award in the category "Best Next-Gen Wi-Fi Network Infrastructure" at the organization's annual event in San Jose, California.
