TTR Creates First Ever Streamlined Sales and Use Tax Matrix for All States - Free Download

MCMINNVILLE, Ore., Aug. 11, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- TTR, the tax answer company, just released an enhanced version of its Uniform Tax Matrix ("UTM" for short).

What is the UTM?

The Uniform Tax Matrix, created by TTR, combines all of the Streamlined Sales and Use Tax Matrices into a single, consistent tax answer tool. 

What is Streamlined Sales and Use Tax?

The Streamlined Sales Tax Governing Board, Inc. is an organization that assists states in creating a simpler and more uniform sales and use tax system.  Currently, 24 states participate in the Streamlined Sales and Use Tax Project.

Why did TTR do this?

TTR recognized the value of the Streamlined Sales and Use Tax Project and asked, what if we did the research for the states that don't participate and made that information available for the public, for free?

Creating TTR's UTM aligns with our corporate purpose to provide tax answers.  Those familiar with the Streamlined Sales and Use Tax Project would agree that at the heart of this project is helping others – helping taxpayers get tax right and helping state agencies simplify the administration of tax.  There is a lot to admire there. 

This help comes at a real cost of time.  Creating and updating tax matrices with tax answers is a time-consuming and complicated process.  In working with several state agencies over the years, we realized that they face the same challenges as the corporations they serve – not enough time to get all the things done that they want to get done. 

This is where TTR comes in.  We grabbed each of the 24 Streamlined Sales and Use Tax Matrices, put all the questions and items in a giant spreadsheet, removed any duplicates, and then researched answers to those questions across all US states.  We then added several additional services and commonly sold products to the list in order to help out smaller businesses that don't have tax departments.  The end result is TTR's Uniform Tax Matrix.

We are proud to provide these tax answers to the public for free.  We love hearing back from small businesses that are really helped by this service.  A little over a year ago we helped a business collect tax correctly and avoid costly future audit issues.  They told us they never would have had the money to pay an accountant for this research.
