SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 12, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Tubi, Inc., the industry's leading free streaming TV and movie network, today named Adam Lewinson as their first-ever Chief Content Officer as the company is poised for meteoric growth.
With deep experience in linear and digital content at Fox, Disney and most recently Sony's Crackle division, Lewinson will oversee content strategy and acquisitions with a focus on continuing the unprecedented growth of premium content on Tubi. Lewinson will report to Farhad Massoudi, Founder and CEO of Tubi, Inc. and will be opening the Los Angeles office to strengthen Tubi's ties to Hollywood.
With more than 200 content partners that include Lionsgate, MGM and Paramount, Tubi now boasts more than 7,500 titles available per month, enabling the company to surpass Netflix's library by several thousands of titles per month. Tubi is the only AVOD (ad-supported video-on-demand) service with the library to compete with a leading SVOD (subscription video-on-demand) service such as Netflix. Tubi's breadth of content, alongside its focus on technology and data-driven strategy, has enabled Tubi to best all AVOD competitors in app rankings and ratings on reported platforms. The company's ability to cultivate organic viewer growth stands in stark contrast with other AVOD competitors, many of which have chosen to pursue a risky strategy of investing heavily in creating original content.
"While AVOD competitors have been making unwise bets on Originals, we've been building long term partnerships with giant media companies. Our massive library of content that's currently live on Tubi, alongside the best technology platform, has proven to work better than our competitors' original content strategy," said Farhad Massoudi, Founder and CEO of Tubi, Inc. "Adam joins us at the perfect time, and brings the exact expertise needed to build on our momentum as the true leader in free streaming and take us to the next level."
"As the SVOD marketplace becomes increasingly oversaturated, Tubi has emerged as the dominant player in the growing longform AVOD category," said Lewinson. "With a wide breadth of titles, superior technology and the best ad-supported viewing experience, Tubi is poised to become the 'Free Netflix' alternative. I'm thrilled to be part of the team and excited to help achieve our next level of growth."
Most recently, Lewinson was Senior Vice President of Programming & Marketing at Sony Pictures Television and the streaming platform Crackle. Lewinson oversaw the programming strategy and content slate for Crackle, where he expanded the library to include content from most major studios. He was also the current programming executive on Jerry Seinfeld's Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee (2016 Emmy Nominee) including the most-viewed episode with President Barack Obama.
Previously, Lewinson spent over a decade at FX Networks, most recently as Senior Vice President, Programming & Production. Lewinson spearheaded the launch of FXM (formerly Fox Movie Channel) and oversaw the channel's programming portfolio. As a member of the senior executive team, he oversaw production and current programming of special projects including Sons of Anarchy late night talk series Anarchy Afterword, 10/90 sitcom Partners with Lionsgate/Debmar-Mercury and the Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards. He also held positions at Lifetime Television, The Walt Disney Company and Columbia Pictures.
Lewinson is an Emmy award-winning producer for FX's A Tribute to Mel Brooks in 2015 and produced the acclaimed series Fox Legacy alongside then Fox studio chairman Tom Rothman.
