OAKLAND, Calif., Feb. 3, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Turnitin, the leader in plagiarism prevention and online grading, today announced the opening of nominations for the Turnitin All-Stars Award Program, which recognizes educators who demonstrate excellence and success in effectively using or promoting the use of Turnitin to support student learning.

"In 2014, Turnitin-All Stars received nearly 300 nominations and recognized 24 educators for their efforts in helping students and fellow colleagues succeed," said Chris Harrick, vice president of marketing at Turnitin. "These educators serve as examples in the Turnitin community for promoting academic integrity, engaging students through rich and actionable feedback, and embracing the 'MVP' role at their institution."
This year, the nomination process gives educators an opportunity to share plagiarism lessons, classroom examples, instructional screenshots and videos. Finalists' and winners' submissions are shared with hundreds of thousands of educators in the Turnitin community via the Turnitin website, Turnitin Blog, and newsletters. Award winners will receive up to $1,000 cash prizes or donations to charities of choice.
"The Turnitin All-Star Awards recognize dedicated educators who have a passion for helping students," said Audrey Wick, the 2014 MVP All-Star Winner. "Helping students has certainly been a reward for my teaching the past 12 years, but it's been wonderful to receive recognition from my colleagues and other educators nationwide."
Nominations will be accepted until February 28, 2015 and vetted by a judging panel that will include the 2014 Turnitin All-Stars winners. The 2015 Turnitin All-Stars winners will be selected in March based on three categories: academic integrity, student outcomes through engaging feedback, and championing the use of Turnitin across disciplines and institutions.
An 'Original Writers Student Award' will be added to the program this year to recognize and identify students who have demonstrated a commitment to promoting original work.
