MESA, Ariz., Dec. 3, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- U-Haul is working to revitalize a historic Mesa community through the acquisition of a former storage facility at 255 E. McKellips Road. U-Haul Moving & Storage of Riverview opened in April to accommodate the needs of do-it-yourself movers in the East Valley.
"We upgraded the grounds to make it more visually appealing and neighborhood-friendly," U-Haul of Eastern Arizona president Andy Smith said. "We built a brand new showroom and really cleaned up the property."
Residents can currently take advantage of 600 drive-up storage units, truck and trailer rentals, and a full line of moving supplies. Set on 3.76 acres, there are plans for expansion pending zoning approval. The goal is to add 800 climate-controlled indoor storage units, RV parking and a larger rental fleet.
"This area of historic Mesa has a lot of heritage and we want to serve the customers who have kept us in business this long," Smith said. "U-Haul customers in this area love their rural lifestyle and I plan to accommodate them when it comes to expanding. We are a hometown company with good relations and we want to provide our customers with clean, dry and secure storage."
The property, located on a high-traffic road, used to serve as home to Palo Verde Mini Storage before U-Haul acquired it and began renovations. The expansion will offer Mesa residents a full-service store at a convenient location.
"Residents have said they are happy to have a U-Haul store nearby where they can rent a moving van, moving supplies and storage units," general manager Esther Parson said. "Customers are excited about the improvements we are making, including more security cameras and refurbished RV parking."
