The handheld scanning device makes refilling your propane cylinder or tank faster and easier than ever before! In addition to the increased speed, U-Haul is reminding the public that refilling your own propane tank can be more cost effective for customers. When you exchange your propane tank, you don't get any credit for the unused propane you had remaining in your tank. When refilling your tank, you only pay for what you need.
The demand for propane has increased within the automotive sector, as propane powers more than 8 million vehicles in more than 38 countries. Propane exhaust produces 60 to 70 percent less smog hydrocarbons than gasoline – which has long-term benefits for our environment.
Propane is used to fill BBQ tanks, and for motor home and camper appliances, forklift tanks and more. The employees at the U-Haul Moving and Storage of West McKinney are propane certified and can fill any legal propane tank, even ones needed for hot-air balloons.
"Our customers clearly appreciate the fact that U-Haul fills the tank right in front of them and charges for propane only by the gallon, rather than charging a minimum fill or flat fee," explained Michael Riley, general manager, U-Haul Moving and Storage of West McKinney.
"U-Haul provides special rates for Autogas, which allows us to save even more money for our customers and local business operators using propane-powered vehicles."
U-Haul Moving and Storage of West McKinney is open 364 days of the year, except Christmas day. Hours of operation are Mon. – Thurs. 7 a.m. – 7 p.m., Fri. 7 a.m. – 8 p.m., Sat. 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. and Sun. 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
U-Haul worked aggressively to develop a handheld-scanning device and currently has more than 1,060 U-Haul propane-refueling locations across North America. These devices are designed to make the propane-refill experience go faster and smoother than ever before!
