OAK LAWN, Ill., July 5, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The U-Haul location at 4650 W. 95th St. closed its doors for the final time on May 23. It had been in operation since 1976.
The store was sold to neighboring business Mancari's Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram dealership, which will expand its lot with the adjoining property.
The need to better serve U-Haul customers at the level they expect and upgrade performance across all business lines prompted the closing of this U-Haul location.
Local U-Haul Companies are always exploring opportunities for growth but sometimes close or relocate stores for reasons such as long-term strategic plans; physical plant limitations; shifts in demographics; trends in migration; expansion of the U-Haul neighborhood dealer network; and the proximity of other new or existing U-Haul stores.
U-Haul Moving & Storage at Oak Lawn at 8900 S. Cicero Ave. opened earlier this year to fill the void left by the W. 95th Street closing and meet the moving and self-storage needs of southern Cook County.
The closed U-Haul store was initially an adaptive reuse project that served as a car dealership property – and now will again. The new U-Haul store boasts better accessibility to Cicero Avenue, the primary thruway in the village, as well as product and service offerings that the closed location was not equipped to handle.
U-Haul, the industry leader in do-it-yourself moving and self-storage, serves customers in all 50 states and 10 Canadian provinces through more than 20,000 locations.
