U-Haul Unveils Plans for First Rancho Dominguez Facility

Once construction is completed, there will be 1,426 indoor self-storage units with climate-control options. The 84,396-square-foot building will incorporate all of U-Haul Company's state-of-the-art security features. While waiting for permanent self-storage units, customers are encouraged to use U-Box containers as temporary self-storage units.

"This is the perfect location for us," U-Haul of Los Angeles South president Erik Regan said. "The facility is only a mile away from California State University – Rancho Dominguez, and is right next to growing neighborhoods and the city of Carson."

By reusing the furniture warehouse, a U-Haul sustainability study reveals it prevented 384 tons of metal manufacturing and transportation from being used; avoided 4,802 tons of new concrete pours; kept 5,239 tons of construction and demolition debris out of landfills; and stopped 3,479,852 pounds of greenhouse gas emissions from entering the atmosphere.

The acquisition of the Rancho Dominguez facility was driven by U-Haul Company's Corporate Sustainability initiatives: U-Haul® supports infill developments to help local communities lower their carbon footprint. U-Haul will look to hire locally as services expand at this facility to support job growth within the Rancho Dominguez community. When the store is fully operational, Regan plans to employ at least 25 Team Members. Regan also hopes local contractors will bid on the renovation work.
