UCLA Anderson to Host 'Innovation China 2013' in Shanghai for Entrepreneurs and Multinationals

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 7, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- UCLA Anderson School of Management, China Materialia LLC, a Shanghai-based venture capital and advisory firm, and UC Irvine's Long U.S.-China Institute for Business and Law are highlighting innovation and the emerging Chinese entrepreneurial market in a two-day conference in Shanghai. The event, 'Innovation China 2013,' will take place Nov. 15-16, 2013, at the Shanghai Expo Center, home of the 2010 World Expo. The conference brings together business leaders from around the world to explore the growing influence of China's advances in areas such as IT, clean technology, advanced materials and consumer goods, and what they mean for China and the world.

The event is aimed at two distinct audiences: multinational technology companies and entrepreneurs interested in learning how to realize their visions. The events on Nov. 15 will feature executives from global companies, corporate venture groups, government entities and start-up companies. Candid discussions will focus on a wide range of topics, including promoting and sourcing innovation, making equity investments, forming strategic alliances, engaging in cross-border partnerships and negotiating joint ventures.

On Nov. 16, faculty members from UCLA Anderson's Price Center for Entrepreneurial Studies and the Center for Global Management will provide an overview of the business skills and knowledge necessary for aspiring entrepreneurs to bring potential products and services to market within China and internationally.

This inaugural conference is a prelude to the UCLA Entrepreneurial Certification Program in Shanghai that will begin in January 2014, according to UCLA Anderson Professor Alfred Osborne, faculty director of the Price Center for Entrepreneurial Studies. The five-month program, which will accommodate a select number of about 60 participants, includes 10 modules that cover strategy, finance, operations, market assessment and other aspects of getting a new enterprise up and running.
