UH Law Center and Hobby School of Public Affairs to Host Webinar on Navigating Policy Changes in a New Political Era

HOUSTON, March 3, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- As the new presidential administration reaches its first 100-day milestone, legal and policy experts will discuss implications for the economy, higher education, immigration, energy and the environment in an upcoming webinar titled "Key Policy Considerations for the Administration." Presented by the University of Houston Law Center and the Hobby School of Public Affairs, the event will be held virtually from 2-6 p.m. on Thursday, March 6.

"In this rapidly evolving moment of transition, it is crucial that we bring together scholars and experts to engage in thoughtful and strategic discussions about the key policy challenges facing our nation," said UH Law Center Dean Leonard M. Baynes. "The insights shared in this webinar can help shape the conversation and influence future policy decisions that impact our communities, economy and the environment."

The half-day virtual event will feature four panel discussions and presenters as follows:

• Economic Policy: Moderated by Granato, with panelists Elizabeth Trujillo, Mary Ann & Lawrence E. Faust Professor of Law at UHLC; Bret Wells, Professor of Law and John Mixon Chair at UHLC and Sunny Wong, Associate Dean for Graduate Studies and Professor at the Hobby School of Public Affairs.
• Higher Education: Moderated by Baynes, with discussants Seth Chandler, Law Foundation Professor of Law at UHLC; Jeronimo Cortina, Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science and Director of Faculty Research Initiatives and Population Health at UH; and Dr. Catherine "Cathy" Horn, the Dean of UH's College of Education.
• Immigration: Moderated by J. Anna Cabot, Assistant Dean of Clinical Programs and Director of the Immigration Clinic at UHLC. The panelists are Gabriel "Jack" Chin, Edward L. Barrett Jr. Chair of Law and Martin Luther King Jr. Professor of Law at the University of California – Davis; Charles Foster, a partner at Foster LLP; and Daniel I. Morales, Associate Professor of Law and the Dwight Olds Chair at UHLC.
• Energy and Environmental Policy: Moderated by Pablo Pinto, Distinguished Professor of the Hobby School of Public Affairs and Director of the Center for Public Policy. Participants include Marcilynn Burke, Dean and Mitchell Franklin Professor of Law at Tulane University; Tracy Hester, Instructional Professor of Law at the Law Center and Co-Director of the Energy, Environment and Natural Resources (EENR) Center; and Gina S. Warren, Professor of Law, A.L. O'Quinn Chair in Environmental Studies and Co-Director of the Energy, Environment and Natural Resources (EENR) Center at UHLC.

Attendees are eligible to receive four hours of Texas continuing legal education credit.
