Ultra Electronics Canada Defence Inc. Tactical Communication Systems Division ("Ultra TCS") - Ultra TCS awarded IDIQ contract for Battlespace IT systems for US DoD

MONTREAL, Aug. 4 /PRNewswire/ - Ultra TCS, the premier global supplier of High Capacity Line-of-Sight (HCLOS(TM)) radio communication systems, today announced that it has been awarded an Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract over seven years.

The awards have been made by the Canadian Commercial Corporation acting on behalf of the US Department of Defense for the AN/GRC-245A HCLOS(TM) radio communication system, a key element of the US Army's WIN-T Program. The initial contract authorization under the IDIQ contract is valued at about $31M (US) for the purchase of HCLOS(TM) radios, spares, and support to be delivered in the first half of 2011.

This seven years engagement validates the performance of Ultra TCS' HCLOS(TM) radio used in the US Army's WIN-T program. These radios will be used to support continued fieldings to US Army units. Ultra TCS has delivered thousands of HCLOS(TM) radios to the US Army, US Marine Corps and FMS Programs to support combat operations in theaters around the world.

The AN/GRC-245 HCLOS(TM) radio communication system is a state-of-the-art Software Defined Radio (SDR) and is using the Software Communications Architecture (SCA) open framework.
