University of the Rockies Makes Big Impact on Downtown Denver with Opening of Rockies Online Center

DENVER, May 9, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Local community leaders welcomed University of the Rockies, an online and on-campus graduate university specializing in social and behavioral sciences, to downtown Denver at this evening's opening of the Rockies Online Center, 1201 16th Street at Tabor Center.

The new center encompasses 80,000-square-feet of space for student support, admissions, financial services, the registrar's office and other non-campus functions. In relocating the center to downtown Denver, University of the Rockies created approximately 100 new jobs and transferred approximately 50 out-of-state executives and employees to the Tabor Center location.

University of the Rockies offers master's and doctorate degrees such as Master of Arts in Human Services; Master of Arts in Organizational Development and Leadership; Master of Arts in Psychology; Doctor of Philosophy in Organizational Development and Leadership; and Doctor of Psychology, with a clinical specialization.   

The University is among the first regionally accredited higher learning institutions to offer an Organizational Diversity program. Small and intimate by design, the University provides access to industry experts, research and publishing opportunities, and clinical programs for practical experience. The Rockies Counseling Center, a non-profit organization located at the Colorado Springs campus, provides low-cost psychotherapy and assessment for those with limited financial resources. Utilized for on-site training, it fills the need for students to practice their skills and integrate academic learning in a clinical setting, while serving the community.

In an effort to enhance itself as a research-based institution providing students with extensive exploration opportunities, the University opened the first phase of Rockies Research Center, a web-based research portal for faculty and students, earlier this year.

As of December 31, 2011, University of the Rockies had 1,929 students enrolled in both online and campus based programs.
