CHICAGO, March 9, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Valspar's "Power in Color" Giveaway, in which 100,000 Valspar paint samples are being offered for free, is in full swing, and now home decor and lifestyle guru Genevieve Gorder announces her specially-curated palette of fresh Valspar hues that will brighten and lighten any room in the home.

Gorder has selected eight standout Valspar colors that make up her Spring palette. They are Plumberry, Green Tea Leaves, Swiftly Green, Sage Morsel, Ancestral Haze, Gold Infusion, Channel Seal Gray and Promenade.

Consumers may choose one of Gorder's selections to try, or may sample any of Valspar's more than 3,000 colors, by simply clicking "like" on Valspar's Facebook page at Facebook.com/Valsparpaint. The free 8-ounce samples will come with a roller, a paint pan and coordinating paint chips—everything needed to make choosing the right colors easy. The kit also includes a coupon for $5 off a gallon of Valspar at Lowe's stores nationwide for when consumers are ready to start their paint project.

"Before spring has sprung, it's important to think about bringing some new color into your life," says Gorder. "There's no reason not to try something different in your home and with the Power in Color Giveaway, Valspar makes it simple."

Valspar recommends trying a sample as the best first step in any painting project. Paint can appear to change color depending on the light in the room -- whether it's near a window or in a corner, at eye-level or near a baseboard. Designers and decorators often test paint colors before making a final selection by doing a 'roll out.' This can be done at home by applying a Valspar sample to a piece of poster board and watching how the light affects it in different areas of the room.

Additionally, Valspar is the National Paint Partner of Habitat for Humanity International and by 2012 will have donated more than $45 million in paint and cash.  Your purchase of Valspar branded products in 2011 supports Valspar's donations to Habitat and helps low-income families benefit from the transformative power of color.
