ORANGE COUNTY, Calif., June 23, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Urban Armor Gear (UAG), designers of rugged, lightweight, drop tested mobile accessories, challenged the law of physics by dropping a brand new iPhone 6 protected by their Folio case out of a car traveling 121.9 mph.
Utilizing Newton's Laws of motion, UAG's objective was to challenge the equation of 'Force = Impulse/Time'. With its series of high-speed impact testing, the company knew this experiment would push the limits of physics and engineering.
UAG went head-to-head with Newton's theory on a closed racecourse with three consecutive drops at increasing speeds:
- 63.4mph
- 101.8mph
- 121.9mph.
The iPhone 6 suffered no damage and all its features and functions were operational after each test further supporting UAG's claim that their cases meet military drop-test standards (MIL STD 810G-516.6).
The first two drops at 63.4mph and 101.8mph resulted in an unscathed iPhone and the 121.9mph drop had similar effects with a some small scratches where the corner of the phone came out of the case, yet the camera was still functioning and the iPhone remained powered on with no damage to the display or any components.
This high-speed test is a natural progression from UAG's previous test, where they sent an iPhone 6 protected by their composite case into the fringes of outer space and documented its descent back to earth. The high-speed drop test is further proof that UAG builds products to protect your mobile devices from the most extreme scenarios.
