Profile America — Monday, August 2nd.  One of the necessities of daily life is 20 years old — the World Wide Web, known simply as WWW.  The concept was developed by two scientists at the Cern laboratory in Switzerland.  With the Web's powerful search capabilities, we've become accustomed to using our computers every day at work and at home to communicate with friends and business contacts, tap into esoteric sources of information, and tune into an expanding number of blogs and news sources.  About two-thirds of households in the U.S. have Internet access at home.  New Hampshire, at 75 percent, has the highest percentage of connected homes; Mississippi, at 46 percent, is the lowest.  You can find these and more facts about America from the U.S. Census Bureau, online at www.census.gov.
