WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 16: REDRAWING LOCAL MAPS
Profile America -- Wednesday, February 16th. The official figures from the 2010 Census have already started the wheels in motion for reapportioning seats in the House of Representatives for the Congress that takes office in January 2013. At the same time, detailed population counts within states across the nation will be released by April 1st, as required by law. With these figures, the 50 states will begin the process of redrawing the boundaries for all their geographic jurisdictions, including the U.S. House of Representatives, state legislatures, county or city councils, and school boards. This process is often highly political and contested. You can find these and more facts about America from the U.S. Census Bureau, online at www.census.gov.
