SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 6: SUPER BOWL
Profile America — Saturday, February 6th. Football fans all over the country will be joining friends in their homes or meeting them in sports bars tomorrow to watch Super Bowl XLIV (44), being played at Dolphin Stadium in Miami. The annual game to determine the professional football championship has come a long way since it was first played in 1967, when the Green Bay Packers beat the Kansas City Chiefs, 35-to-10. The event has taken on a life of its own, with celebrity half time ceremonies and the unveiling of new commercials on television generating almost as much interest as the game itself. There are more that $43 billion worth of advertising on broadcast television each year, with more that $27.5 billion additional dollars of commercials on cable channels. Profile America is in its 13th year as a public service of the U.S. Census Bureau.
