WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 6: BOAT SHOWS
Profile America -- Wednesday, January 6th. This is the time of year when people in many parts of the country are growing weary of winter and longing to be out on the water in warmer weather in their boats. These dreams are fed by many boat shows across the nation showing the latest in power and sail boats, equipment, accessories, and vacation property. The annual New Orleans Boat Show is under way, and the show in Providence, Rhode Island, will open tomorrow. Next week, boaters in Milwaukee will troop through the snow to see the latest in summer fun. Boating is a major hobby in the U.S. -- we own nearly 17 million boats and spend more than $37 billion a year on new and used boats. You can find these and more facts about America from the U.S. Census Bureau, now preparing for the 2010 Census on April 1st.
