FRIDAY OCTOBER 12: HUGE BEER FESTIVAL
Profile America — Friday, October 12th. Munich, Germany has its more famous Oktoberfest, but in Denver today, the record setting Great American Beer Festival is in the second day of its annual three-day meeting. The get together highlights some 1,884 different beers from all across the nation — the largest number gathered in one place anywhere in the world. Awards will be given to the best beers in 75 different categories. By the time it closes, some 46,000 people are expected to have visited the festival, which offers free one-ounce tasting samples and cheaper tickets for designated drivers. There are 398 breweries across the nation — producing beer worth more than $21 billion a year. You can find more facts about America from the U.S. Census Bureau, online at www.census.gov.
