FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 16: BIG CAR SHOW
Profile America — Friday, September 16th. In spite of their rising cost and the sluggish economy, America's love affair with the automobile shows no signs of abating. The long running nature of that affection will be highlighted from today through the weekend in Vermont, at the 45th annual Bennington Car Show. Ten-thousand people are expected to walk among rows of classic and modified cars. They'll see long-gone names such as Hudson, Nash, and Studebaker alongside muscle cars, Woodie station wagons, and hot rods, and hear seniors say wistfully "I used to have one of those." Across the U.S., cars shows are increasingly popular and each year attract nearly 19 million people. Profile America is produced by the U.S. Census Bureau: Measuring America—People, Places, and Our Economy.
