THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 29: GREAT AMERICAN BEER FESTIVAL
Profile America — Thursday, September 29th. Beer lovers in the west are congregating in Denver for the 30th annual Great American Beer Festival, which runs through Saturday. They had better have tickets before making a long trip, since tickets have been sold out for months. Some 49,000 people are expected to attend. They'll be able to sample beers from more than 450 U.S. breweries — a total of nearly 2,200 different brews on tap, a number which puts the festival into the Guinness Book of Records. Americans drink an average of 22 gallons of beer each during the course of a year. This compares with 2-1/2 gallons of wine and nearly 1-1/2 gallons of distilled liquor. Profile America is produced by the U.S. Census Bureau: Measuring America—People, Places, and Our Economy.
