UScellular Breaks GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ Title for Longest Temporary Mini Golf Hole

Company built a 507-foot mini golf hole in Des Moines, Iowa to provide people a fun activity away from their phones

DES MOINES, Iowa, June 23, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- UScellular is officially the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS Title holder for the longest temporary mini golf hole. The company built a 507-foot mini golf hole in Des Moines, Iowa, smashing the baseline record of 492 feet. Hundreds of residents were able to play the hole on Saturday at Cowles Commons in downtown Des Moines and participate in other activities such as face painting, a giant puzzle and mural painting. The "Unplug & Play Day" event is an extension of UScellular's Built for US campaign to provide tips, resources and experiences to help people connect in real life and have a healthier relationship with technology.

"It was an honor to be a part of something that was created for the community to experience, and it was exciting to see so many people come out to enjoy the day."

The giant mini golf hole was inspired by UScellular's Board of Connectors, a group comprised of youth from Boys & Girls Clubs and children of UScellular associates, to inspire ways for families to create better digital habits. Earlier this year, they met with UScellular CEO, Laurent "LT" Therivel, and shared their desire to make their favorite places in their communities even better by getting to play larger-than-life games in open spaces, allowing them to have fun away from their screens.
