USHCC President Javier Palomarez Appointed to New FCC Advisory Committee

WASHINGTON, Nov. 14, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Today the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) announced that President and CEO, Javier Palomarez, will join the Federal Communications Commission's (FCC) new Advisory Committee on Diversity Communications in the Digital Age.

The Advisory Committee on Diversity for Communications in the Digital Age will make recommendations to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) regarding policies and practices that will enable minorities and women to participate in telecommunications and related industries.
Specifically, the Committee will focus on lowering barriers to entry to communications and related industries for historically disadvantaged businesses, exploring ways in which to ensure universal access to and adoption of broadband in underserved communities, and creating an environment that enables employment of a diverse workforce within the communications and related industries.
Prior to the USHCC, Palomarez served as Vice President of Multicultural Marketing at ING Financial Services, where he was recruited to lead diversity outreach programs. Palomarez is one of the nation's pre-eminent multi-cultural sales and marketing executives. He is a sought-after spokesperson, thought-leader and strategist on the issues affecting America's consumers, particularly those in the Hispanic community. His opinions and points of view have appeared in leading publications including The Wall Street Journal, BusinessWeek, The Washington Post, USA Today and many others.
Palomarez has also been appointed to the National Advisory Council on Minority Business Enterprise by United States Secretary of Commerce, Gary Locke. He serves on the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses Advisory Board. He is a member of the Pfizer's Small Business Advisory Council, as well as Aetna's Latino Advisory Council and the Comcast National Hispanic Advisory Council. Palomarez serves on Senator Robert Menendez' Working Group on Corporate Diversity and is a director of the Hispanic Association on Corporate Responsibility (HACR). He was recently named "One of the 75 Most Influential Hispanics" by PODER Magazine.
