Varian Medical Systems to Exhibit Technology for Treating Cancer with Radiotherapy at ITEM Exhibition in Yokohama, Japan

Varian will also co-sponsor a luncheon seminar on real-time 4-D radiotherapy, an approach that uses imaging and tracking technology for precisely targeting tumors that move as the patient breathes during a radiotherapy treatment.

"Real-Time 4-D Radiotherapy" Symposium

Varian will also sponsor a luncheon symposium on the topic of real-time 4-D radiotherapy, as part of the 71st Annual Meeting of the Japan Radiological Society (JRS), which meets during the ITEM exhibition event.  Hiroki Shirato, M.D., Ph.D., professor and chairman of the Department of Radiation Medicine at the Hokkaido University Graduate School of Medicine, an internationally-known expert in the management of tumor motion, will talk about compensating for tumor motion during radiotherapy in order to treat lung and other thoracic tumors more precisely.
