ATLANTA, March 28, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Veritiv Corporation (NYSE: VRTV), a leading business-to-business distribution solutions company, today announced the donation of a humanitarian services vehicle through its community engagement and philanthropy program, Veritiv Connects. In addition, the company's Norcross team members joined together to assemble 500 American Red Cross comfort kits to aid those in need after natural disasters and home fires.
With the March tornados and storms in Southwest Georgia, the Veritiv-donated humanitarian services vehicle has already been placed into service. Volunteers from the American Red Cross have used it to transport materials, such as comfort kits, and meet with families. In fact, they have responded to 18 home fires in the last 30 days, travelling 2,000 miles to aid those in need.
During times of disaster, the American Red Cross provides comfort kits to impacted community members to help them begin their recovery journey with basic necessities. Small things like toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, razors, combs, and soap can have a big impact and provide comfort during a disaster.
