DENVER, Feb. 23, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Verizon customers in Colorado are enjoying all the benefits of the top performing wireless network in the state, as rated by the new Colorado RootScore® Report by RootMetrics. RootMetrics is an independent mobile analytics firm that uses off-the-shelf consumer smartphones to test the network capabilities of all four major U.S. wireless carriers in six network performance categories across various geographies.

This marks the fourth consecutive time Verizon won the Overall RootScore award in Colorado.  Verizon also was ranked first in speed and data performance and tied for first in text performance and reliability.  Scores are based on RootMetrics drive and 88 indoor tests, including 4020 miles in Colorado from July through December 2015.

Additionally, for the fifth consecutive time, Verizon's wireless network has been acknowledged by RootMetrics as the leader in overall performance among national wireless service providers across the U.S.

"We have a relentless focus on providing our customers with the most reliable network possible, especially as everyone's lifestyles become more connected than ever before," said Brian Mecum Vice President of Verizon Network. "The significant investments we have made across Colorado are evidence of that unwavering commitment. No matter what is happening, Coloradans expect our network to deliver."

Verizon continues to enhance its network in Colorado by deploying new technology such as distributed antenna systems and expanding XLTE coverage, which doubles 4G LTE network bandwidth in cities nationwide, with faster peak speeds and greater capacity than before. In addition, Verizon has aggressively deployed LTE Advanced and carrier aggregation, which uses software to combine multiple network channels running on different spectrum bands into one big pipe, significantly increasing speeds for consumers.

Verizon's innovative network solutions were recently highlighted in the San Francisco Bay Area. Additionally, Verizon added network capacity to allow customers to share 3.1 TB of data during the Broncos Super Bowl parade in Denver.

In the Metro RootScore report series, Verizon won the Overall RootScore Award outright in Colorado Springs.
