Verizon Wireless Expands Its 4G LTE Network In Philadelphia Area June 21
Nation's Largest 4G LTE Network Continues Growing with New and Expanding Markets Across United States
PHILADELPHIA, June 20, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Verizon Wireless, owner of the nation's largest 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network, announced today the expansion of its 4G LTE network in 22 markets, including the Philadelphia area, where its 4G LTE network is already available. This expansion, which officially takes place Thursday, June 21, will enable customers in more areas to take advantage of the company's blazing fast 4G LTE speeds and connectivity. In addition to the expansions in 22 markets, the company will introduce its 4G LTE network in 46 new markets the same day. With the new and expanded markets, the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network will be available in a total of 304 markets, covering more than two-thirds of the U.S. population.
Verizon Wireless launched its 4G LTE network in the Philadelphia market in December 2010 and, since that time, has aggressively filled in and expanded the network in the Philadelphia vicinity and across central and eastern Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey and Delaware.
With this latest expansion, more residents and businesses in communities to the north, east and south of Philadelphia will have access to the nation's fastest 4G network. To the north, portions of Bucks, Montgomery, Chester and Delaware Counties will be covered, including Newtown in Bucks County, and North Wales, Gwynedd, Spring House, Blue Bell, Collegeville, Malvern, Eagleville, Pocopson and Oaks in Montgomery County.
In Chester County, 4G LTE will be available in Devault, Exton, Downingtown, Malvern and West Chester. Chadds Ford, Glen Mills, Aston Mills, Broomall and Newtown Square in Delaware County are also areas covered in the expansion. To the east, 4G LTE will be expanded in Mercer, Burlington and Camden Counties in New Jersey, including the communities of Allentown, Pennington, Whitman Square and Williamstown. To the south, the 4G LTE expansion includes portions of Gloucester and Salem Counties in New Jersey, New Castle County in Delaware, and Cecil County in Maryland. In New Jersey, coverage will now be available in the Gloucester County communities of Blackwood and Turnersville. In Delaware and Maryland, 4G LTE will be available in Boyds Corner, Cecilton, Chesapeake City, Chesapeake Village, Elkton, Newark, North East, Perryville, Red Toad, St. Georges, Smyrna, South Elkton, Talleyville and Tybouts Corner.
"The expansion of our 4G LTE network in the Philadelphia region demonstrates our commitment to continuously expand the network and provide our customers with the highest quality communications standards," said regional president Mario Turco. "Our 4G LTE network allows our customers to download music or upload photos faster than ever before, broadening their communications possibilities with family, friends and colleagues."

Additionally, customers can take advantage of the recently introduced HomeFusion(SM) Broadband, a solution that leverages the power and speed of the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network to deliver high-speed, in-home Internet access for residential broadband, particularly in areas where Internet options are limited or are not currently available.
4G LTE Coverage and Speed
In real-world, fully loaded network environments, Verizon Wireless 4G LTE customers should experience average data rates of 5 to 12 megabits per second (Mbps) on the downlink and 2 to 5 Mbps on the uplink.
When customers travel outside of a 4G LTE coverage area, 4G LTE devices automatically connect to Verizon Wireless' 3G network, enabling customers to stay connected from coast to coast. Verizon Wireless' 3G network is the most reliable high-speed data network in the country and allows customers in 3G coverage areas who purchase 4G LTE devices today to take advantage of 4G LTE speeds when the faster network becomes available in their area, or when they travel to areas already covered by 4G LTE.
