Verizon Wireless to Present $10,000 Grant to Women Haven, Inc. in El Centro, California

Verizon Wireless will present a $10,000 grant to WomenHaven, Inc., a non-profit domestic violence prevention agency offering victims shelter, educational services, food and clothing throughout Imperial County, California.

Meet and greet with Eddie "Piolin" Sotelo, host of the most popular syndicated Spanish-language radio program in the country, "Piolin por la Manana."

Customers can earn access to the Piolin meet and greet by donating an old cell phone or accessory to the company's HopeLine program, or by receiving a tablet or smartphone demonstration from a Verizon Wireless employee.

Since HopeLine's launch in 2001, Verizon Wireless has collected more than 5.6 million phones and donated more than $6.3 million in cash grants to organizations raising awareness of domestic violence and its prevention.  HopeLine collects no-longer-used wireless equipment from any wireless service provider at Verizon Wireless Communications Stores nationwide, or by mail.
