Verizon's Marc Reed Inducted into National Academy of Human Resources

NEW YORK, Nov. 14, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Marc Reed, Verizon's chief administrative officer, has been inducted into the National Academy of Human Resources' 22nd class of Fellows, an honor considered the most prestigious in the field of human resources. Since its founding in 1992, the academy has inducted only 154 individuals as Fellows.

The class of 2013 was honored last week at a dinner reception in New York.

Reed has been Verizon's top human resources executive since 2004, and became chief administrative officer on Jan. 1, 2012, when he assumed added responsibility for the company's real estate, supply chain, and fleet operations.

Under Reed's leadership, Verizon has received national recognition for its leadership in the acquisition, retention and development of its people. Reed joined GTE, a Verizon predecessor company, in 1986 in the human resources function. He held a number of HR positions with increasing responsibility until becoming vice president of human resources for Verizon Wireless in 2000. In 2004, he became Verizon's executive vice president, human resources, and then its chief administrative officer in 2012.
