2019 Commemoration Includes Events and Legacy Projects Showcasing Virginia's Global Leadership in Education, Tourism and Economic Development
WILLIAMSBURG, Va., March 19, 2018 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Virginia's 2019 Commemoration, American Evolution™, has selected global brand experience agency Jack Morton and event marketing and management firm Prosody Creative Services to produce and create content for a series of signature events in 2019. The agencies will create three events each, reflecting their individual areas of expertise.
American Evolution events, programs, and legacy projects share stories of Virginia and America's diverse leaders, achievers and pioneers to bridge the past, present and future and foster lasting connections within our communities. American Evolution marks the 400th anniversary of a series of pivotal historic events that continue to influence American democracy, diversity and opportunity.

The historical 1619 Virginia events being commemorated by American Evolution include the First Representative Legislative Assembly in the New World; the arrival of the first recorded Africans to English North America; the recruitment of English women in significant numbers to the Virginia colony; the first official English Thanksgiving in North America and the entrepreneurial and innovative spirit of the Virginia colony. Signature events and legacy projects being produced by Jack Morton and Prosody Creative Services will engage local, national and international audiences in understanding how the events of 1619 Virginia changed the course of Virginia and U.S. history and continue to influence today's America.
