Virtuoso Preview Hotel Will Bring New Standard of Luxury to Puerto Rico

NEW YORK, Oct. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Bringing a new elegance and sophistication to Puerto Rico's pristine beaches, the St. Regis Bahia Beach Resort is poised to usher in a new era of luxury resorts on the island. As the first St. Regis property in Puerto Rico, and as a member of Virtuoso's® prestigious Preview Program, the resort will offer guests an enclave of fine amenities including St. Regis's iconic butler service. Slated to receive its first guests on November 4, 2010, the resort is now accepting reservations for stays after November 11, 2010.

"The St. Regis Bahia Beach Resort is a new type of luxury accommodation for Puerto Rico," said David Kurland, general manager, St. Regis Bahia Beach-Puerto Rico. "The fact that St. Regis and Virtuoso – two brands that define the very meaning of luxury – take an interest in the island, says something about Puerto Rico as a destination. The opening of this resort will bolster the island's competitiveness as a high-end destination in the Caribbean and help Puerto Rico garner the prominent status it deserves."

Destined to become one of the Caribbean's finest vacation destinations, the Bahia Beach is situated on 483 acres of a former coconut plantation and native maritime forest. The Caribbean's first and only Certified Gold Audubon Signature Sanctuary, the resort introduces an unrivaled dimension of bespoke hospitality to Puerto Rico. Along with 139 beautifully appointed rooms, the resort will offer a Remede Spa; the first Robert Trent Jones Jr. golf course in the Caribbean; a Jean-Georges' - Fern restaurant; exceptional meeting facilities; and the Iguana's Kids Club.

In addition to the world-class service and amenities offered at the property, other benefits of the resort include its close proximity to the airport (a simple 30-minute commute); easy accessibility to San Juan (30 minutes); and nearby rainforest. Puerto Rico also offers travelers advantages as a destination, as the island has several direct flights available from many markets and passports are not required.
