Volunteers Of America-Greater New York Honors Deloitte At Its 22nd Annual Fundraising Gala
NEW YORK, Nov. 29, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Volunteers of America-Greater New York (VOA-GNY) announced it will honor Deloitte at its annual fundraising gala taking place on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at the Plaza Hotel in New York City. Deloitte provides industry-leading audit, consulting, tax and advisory services to many of the world's most admired brands, including more than 85 percent of the Fortune 500 and more than 6,000 private and middle market companies.
This highly-anticipated fundraiser, called "A New York Winter's Eve," will be emceed by Willie Geist, host of Sunday TODAY with Willie Geist and Morning Joe co-host.
Each year VOA-GNY's Spirit of the Founders award is presented to a person or company that leads the way in community involvement and contributes to VOA's life-changing, often life-saving work, to care for the homeless, families affected by domestic violence, children with special needs, at-risk youth, adults living with HIV/AIDS, behavioral health or substance use issues, veterans and the frail elderly. VOA-GNY has been at the forefront of social service for nearly 120 years, helping individuals and families in need overcome obstacles to living safe, healthy and productive lives.
Mike Fucci, chairman of the Deloitte board, will accept the award on behalf of Deloitte. Also in attendance will be event chair Gerry Cunningham, a principal at Deloitte who serves as the VOA-GNY board chair.
Key among the many VOA-GNY programs which flourish with Deloitte's support are Operation Backpack® and a new initiative spearheaded by Deloitte called the Next Generation Network – a group of philanthropically-inclined young professionals in their 20s and 30s who support the VOA-GNY mission.
Tere Pettitt, President and CEO of Volunteers of America-Greater New York, said, "At Volunteers of America-Greater New York, we are dedicated to providing life-saving services to tens of thousands of vulnerable and at-risk New Yorkers every year. Our work is only made possible by the generosity of donors and volunteers, and Deloitte's contributions and unwavering commitment to our mission is incalculable. We are deeply indebted to Deloitte, Mick Fucci, Gerry Cunningham and the hundreds of Deloitte employees who volunteer with us every year.
