vRad Names Radiology Industry Leader Jim Tierney to Head Expanding vRad Radiology Alliance

MINNEAPOLIS, Oct. 11, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Virtual Radiologic (vRad), a technology-enabled national radiology practice, announced today it has named Jim Tierney Senior Vice President of Operations for vRad Radiology Alliance. In this newly created position, he will be responsible for managing and expanding the vRad Radiology Alliance network. vRad Radiology Alliance, an integrated national specialty network, enhances the strength of local, on-site radiology partners to deliver improved performance to the hospitals and patients they serve.

A seasoned industry veteran, Tierney brings a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of the economics, challenges and opportunities for radiology practices to thrive in a rapidly changing healthcare market. Prior to joining vRad, Tierney was Chief Executive Officer of Suburban Radiologic Consultants, one of the largest radiology practices in the country, managing operations and growth of this 62-physician radiology practice. Tierney has also served as President of RBMA (Radiology Business Management Association) and MMGMA (Minnesota Medical Group Managers Association) and is a frequent speaker for various associations on management issues for medical groups.
