This partnership will establish a first-of-its-kind hypersonic manufacturing capacity that leverages the additive manufacturing, design, and physical AI capabilities necessary to rapidly scale the production of affordable, next-generation hypersonic munitions for the Department of War (DoW).
HARVARD, Mass., Sept. 15, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- In response to Congressional, Department of War and mission partners' demand for next-generation hypersonic munitions and the Administration's leadership in rebuilding the American industrial base, VulcanForms and Specter Aerospace announced today a strategic partnership to produce airbreathing hypersonic weapons at scale. The partnership will provide the nation with the capability to securely and economically scale the manufacturing and all-up-round (AUR) integration of low-cost hypersonic munitions, interceptors and cruise missiles for critical national security requirements.
Specter Aerospace's hypersonic vehicle development has long employed VulcanForms' 3D printing, high-volume manufacturing expertise and engineering, enabling faster design cycles, a more resilient supply chain and lower costs. This partnership is shaping faster routes to field testing and operational integration. The strategic partnership will transition years of successful development into one of the nation's most advanced full-rate production facilities, fully integrating both companies' capabilities to transform critical minerals into critical munitions and reinforcing a shared commitment to deploying low-cost, cutting-edge technology to U.S. forces and partners.
VulcanForms and Specter Aerospace are developing a comprehensive, nationwide site evaluation for the future production facility. Today's partnership already leverages the production-ready facilities of both companies to build a dedicated, long-term manufacturing operation, coupling Specter's nearly decade-long leadership in building hypersonic missiles alongside the DoW with VulcanForms' leading commercial expertise in high-volume additive manufacturing and post-processing. This effort will put hypersonic development at the forefront of American reindustrialization.
