GRAND RIVERS, Ky., May 18, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Representatives of Vulcan Materials Company's Grand Rivers Quarry near Paducah, Ky., today announced that the company is making a $10,000 donation to the Livingston County Friends of the Library, Inc. An anonymous donor is matching Vulcan's contribution. The funds will be used to buy books for the community's new library.

The Livingston County Friends of the Library, Inc. is a non-profit corporation developed with the purpose of offering both financial and other support to the library project.
According to Vulcan's regional operations manager, Joe Winiger, the recommendation to support the library project came from employees that make up the community relations team at Grand Rivers Quarry. "I'm grateful to our community relations team who brought this project to our attention and asked Vulcan to participate. We believe that part of being a good neighbor is giving back to our community. A major focus of our community support is for education-related projects, and the new library is a great example of this," said Winiger.
