Inspired by her Golden Retriever, in 2004 Sandy Hirsch was determined to find an engravable ID tag tough enough to withstand her dog's active lifestyle and attractive enough to hang from her collar. She knew what she was looking for: a tag that could be engraved with all the pertinent information, wouldn't fade, discolor, or fall off, that would also be glitzy and glamorous. After a long and fruitless search, Hirsch took what she was looking for and decided to create a company devoted solely to producing doggie-durable yet fashion friendly pet tags.

A collector of fine jewelry, Hirsch began by consulting a designer and a jeweler. She explored the properties of precious metals, the strength of various bales and connectors, the staying power of various gems. After coming up with a prototype that addressed both function and form, the tags were put to the ultimate test of durability: her dog, Jessie. Jessie proved that the tags can withstand even the most active and rambunctious pooches. The end result became the first Wags & Tags line, BOWL ME OVER™, recently debuted at New York's Pet Fashion Week. About Wags & Tags: Wags & Tags was born because of Jessie, a gorgeous golden retriever. The owner Sandy Hirsch thought that a beautiful dog shouldn't wear anything other than a magnificent ID tag that is also fine jewelry.  A collector of fine jewelry, Sandy came up with a prototype that addressed both form and function.
